Y'all talked out, huh?
Hi Everybody!!
Such sudden silence here! Guess we just blew it out on Sunday, right? That was fun, wasn't it? And it was wonderful getting to know everyone a little more. Try it again this Sunday?
Paula, done with your peach butter?
Hugs and laughs...Diane

Re: Y'all talked out, huh?
Hiya, Dianne...yes, it is quiet in here. Speaking for myself, I've been really tired the last few days. I think last weeks baseball tournament burnt me out a little. I feel like I need an I.V. of java to set me straight. I've been working on those blasted ornaments of mine the last few days and quite frankly, I'm getting tired of looking at them looking at me! Who ever would have thought it took that long to stick some hair on an ornament! It takes forever to do. Sadly, I only have about 8 of them with hair. I think the biggest problem is that the hair I bought turned out not to be the best after all. A lot of it is matted together, and a lot of it isn't really that clean in some spots. So, I'm having to sift through and salvage what I can so it is taking me a long time just to finish one ornament at a time. It would be different if it was all nicely laid out like mohair rovings. But....I guess that is the price you pay for nice curly hair. I do have a buttload of mohair roving that I could use. But, it's soooo straight. I have never tried curling it on sticks before but, it might be worth a try at this point in time.
So, I think I'm gonna have to change my approach a little. I think I'll focus on my dolls during the week.....and ornaments on the weekends...cause that is boring work. LOL
Sorry I missed the chat again. I'll have to make sure the hubby is busy next one. hehe
Hugs,
Lori

Re: Y'all talked out, huh?
Hey Lori,
I was wondering. When do you have to have the ornaments done? Breaking it up with working on something else might be just the thing. Repetition is tiring just in itself. I don't know about you, but I'm one of those people that it ALWAYS takes longer to do a project than I think. Greg has strongly suggested I drop "Cake-O" from my vocabulary! Pushing it sure takes out the fun.
Go watch a video????
Hugs, sweetie.....Diane

Re: Y'all talked out, huh?
Hiya, Diane!
Yes, I think that the repetition is getting to me on the ornaments. Lord only knows what I was thinking of when I sat down and made so many. Talk about overwhelming. lol But, yes, I did take a break from it finally and just played around on my computer. Sometimes you have to walk away for a bit. They don't technically have to be done until November. But, I had really wanted to bring a couple hundred with me. What was I thinking. LOL Over acheiver to say the least. rofl rofl If I do a couple each day, I'll be alright. That way I have a limit set and I'm not burning myself out either. But, I do think I need to set them aside and work on one of those dolls. I'm itching to work on one of them. lol
Hugs,
Lori

Re: Y'all talked out, huh?
I don't think that I'm ever talked out.
I've been working waterproofing my deck. One more coat and I'm done!
The problem is that I'm too tired to even see the computer screen by the end of the day! I'm so out of shape and I could use a new back. Ouch!

Re: Y'all talked out, huh?
WAHHHHHHH....I'm missed ya'll and was there a chat group this past SUnday....I really hate I missed that too if there was. My studio and computer are upstairs and these old bones kept me downstairs all weekend. Dang old bones!!!!!!
WOW....Lori..so many ornaments...post a pic for us...pppplease!!!! OMGOSH...working with hair sometimes is like pulling our own hair out isn't it!!!! I worked on one of my Bulb'z yesterday and I think I had more hair on my fingers that I ever got on top of her head .
I agree with Diane...you have to just walk away sometimes...just walk away Lori..walk away...nooo don't look back...keep walking....go work on something else...the ornaments will wait on you...LOL!!! If you are like me that is half the problem...they do wait...and stare and just look so sad..waiting on us to finish them...STOP...don't walk...RUN!!!!!!
Patty I hope that your back gets better soon...I bet the desk looks awesome. I wish there was a way we could paint proof them but I guess all the splatters just add to the character....
I hope everyone is getting to do something creative and fun this week. Sending BIG HUGS to all.

Re: Y'all talked out, huh?
Ha, Regi! I have learned to only do a few at a time. This way it doesn't seem so overwhelming. I'll be glad to be done with them. And, yes, when I work on the hair, it seems like it is literally all over the place! To me, it's the worse part of the whole process. For the life of me, I can't understand why we can't leave them bald? After all, I thought bald was beautiful! Sorry your old bones are bothering ya. I think we all have those days. Hope they feel better soon.

Re: Y'all talked out, huh?
Bald is beautiful ...my hubby is one of those completely bald guys so I sure had better think it's beautiful...or handsome or whatever it is I'm suppose to think ..LOL!!!! Humm, maybe try one bald...it could be Santa in the summer...HOHOHO!!! Put a tiny lil fishing hat on him. He's magic..he can make it all grow back by Christmas time.
Awww thanks about the bones....it is just my RA acting up....I can usually handle it but for some reason it was a full blown episode this time. I did get to lay around and sleep all day Saturday....when I swell and run a fever I get this dang weird headache and hubby was worried so he let me sleep and rest and even kept the ice and heat coming my way. He can just be the sweetest man....sometimes..hehehe!!!

Re: Y'all talked out, huh?
RA stinks. It's about the only thing you can do is just rest and let the episodes pass. Sorry you have to go through with that. I also have a form of RA, but it is called ankylosing spondylitis. It has the same genetic marker as the RA called HLA B27. Or something like that, the only difference is my type affects the spine and joints ...like hip joints especially. I take arthritis meds every day, and use humira pen once every 2 weeks. I can definately tell when I forget to take my med. And, it can be tiring from time to time. But, I'm generally alright as long as I take my meds. So, I can honestly say I feel for ya. Rest up...and come back fighting strong later to make a bunch of santas.

Re: Y'all talked out, huh?
OMGOSH...Lori that is what I have....I can never remember how to spell it the right way so I just say RA....LOL!!! I can't take any meds....I am one of those 1 in a million folks that our bodies react to meds by thinking it is a germ....can never remember how to spell that long word either. Everything I take gives me ulcers in my mouth, throat and I have even gotten them in my ears and eyes before. The meds are much worse than the ailment so I just live with it. Thank the good Lord that he has kept me fairly healthy all my life. I just roll with the flow so to speak. I'm so happy that you can take something for yours. You know goofy me...I won't let it slow me down...it just keeps me from coming up the stairs...ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!

Regi,
I'm sooooo sorry you can't take meds for yours. It can be a rather cruel world...where mother nature plays some nasty tricks. Sending you a lot of love and healing your way.

Re: Y'all talked out, huh?
Goodness, I'm having an awful time today! The server is being a pain in the rear for me. Anybody else having any problems? It is probably just me lol. Wanted to say howdy to everyone cause the forums been soooooo quiet lately. I'm still fighting santa locks of hair. Finally decided to just take the entire bag, and section it out into pieces and rewash it all. Then, I layed it out to dry. So, hopefully, we'll see a little progress. Atleast until the hair runs out and I have to wash the next bag. lol Which, will not take long anyway.
Hugs to all,

Re: Y'all talked out, huh?
Doing good here too, Regi. My boy, Jeremy, has been in Maine since Friday. So, I've been doing things that I don't normally get done while he hasn't been home. I hope you are having a fun time out in the garden; I have to agree with you...it's just waaaaay too humid and down right hot to go out. I think 1/2 of my poor plants have burned up cause it is just to hot to even go out and give them a drink. And, we just haven't had enough rain to amount to anything but a few drops.
Anyway, I'm glad I am not the only one seeming to have some issues with the forum. I have noticed too, that the "bullets" to the right side of the screen are not showing up at all. You know, they are green if you have read the topic, and red if you have a new one. I think they have gone ninja on us. And, I've noticed that the little boxes next to peoples names are not there if you want to send pms or click on their www or whatever. Those look like an "x" like the picture couldn't be uploaded or something.
Oh well, off to wash up some more hair. I decided to just wash up this whole batch that I have. It will save time for me once I sit down and put hair on the rest of these ornaments cause I'll just pick up the hair from the table that is all laid out in neat rows. Instead of pulling a clump out of the bag, and fighting it for about 10 mins trying to clean it up. Don't know why I didn't think about cleaning it up this way to begin with. guess the was shut off...no power. lol
Hugs,
Lori

Re: Y'all talked out, huh?
I'm still playing catch up on everyday life. I'm waiting to do a few upgrades on my computer so I can really go to town designing more.
I'm also cleaning my santa workshop out. Wonder if my sheep wool is still good if it was never washed? I found a huge box of unwashed Border Leister wool. I'm afraid it's going to be yellow.
Lori do you wash your wool in pantyhose?
I had a problem with posting to the board too. We maybe going through another upgrade. I can see all the bullets, icon etc. no problem.

Re: Y'all talked out, huh?
Actually, no, I don't use pantyhose. I just grab a small swatch and straighten it out as best I can. Then grip one end tightly that looks the worse and proceed to wash the other end out that looks better. While still gripping the bad end, I pat it out dry with paper towels, clip off most of the bad end so it has a blunt edge, then lay it down flat on the counter to finish air drying. Later, when it is dry, I will then recut the blunt bad end, clearing off the rest of the bad unwashed part that I considered unsalvageable, and place it on to my project. Seems like a lot of work...and it is as you probably already know. But, it sure beats me having to try and sift through it all while I'm in the middle of trying to place the hair onto the heads. Besides, I can sift through all the hair while I'm watching tv and it seems to go a little faster that way. Once I get a table full laid out in nice "clean" clumps/swatches, then I just go wash out that table full. Then start all over. I'm hopeing that this will speed up my process of getting these stinking ornaments finished. lol
And, it is possible we are having a server update or something like that...could be why we are running slow or odd or whatever you want to call it.
Hugs,
Lori

I need to order some more leichester, I have got down to the bottom of the bag. I like to order the wool in raw, can really get some good stuff with yellow tips. Sorry I have been missing my cpu went squat on me for a week and had to have it repaired, Maybe I'll get a new one come tax time. This cow puter is starting to mooooo.
Re: Y'all talked out, huh?
I understand how that goes, Paula. My laptop did the same thing to me a year ago. I felt so naked without my computer. We ended up having to buy a new desktop and got rid of the laptop altogether.
On a side note...looks like the forums is really not cleared up after all. I still see tale-tale signs of it having trouble.
