The Darel/Paula Swap
Darel's swap head came in the mail today, it's so cute. This guy has a great smile. I'm thrashing around what I am going to do with him. Not sure if he's gonna be a Santa, or something else. This head has been really talking to me so I will keep you guys up dated where this is going. I don't want to post him until he's close to being finished. Be patient! Paula
Re: The Darel/Paula Swap
Paula you are way too kind. I am glad you like him.
I have decided that your head is looking like a very nice elf. I hope you don't mind.
He has this little grin that looks like he just got away with something he shouldn't have.
Paula this was a lot of fun, thanks.

Fat lady singing...LALALALA LAAAAAAA!
This is soooo exciting guys. You should take pics of the initial head before you begin so we can see what you started off with when you decide to post your pics. I can't wait to see what you both come up with in the end. This will be fun to watch.

Awesome Darel!!! I love those green eyes and the teeth..How did you do the teeth???? Nosey ummmm I mean inquiring minds want to know.....they look REAL!!! Oh Paula...I can see why you can't decide...my muse is shouting out several different characters for this one. So excited about seeing WIP pics from both of you guys with this swap. You guys can do this swap, post WIP pics and teach some of us as you go along making these pieces. HOW COOL is that!!!
Maybe next time I can get involved with a swap. I'll just enjoy this one for now.
Hugs,
Regi

Re: The Darel/Paula Swap
Regi and Lori,
Thank you for the compliments. I am glad you like him.
Regi,
As for the teeth, I pull his mouth open, I then make a cresent moon shape out of white, pearl, or translusent clay. Either which one you like the most. Insert it into his mouth and make very thin cuts for the teeth. Then you round the edges off and smooth everything out. Push his mouth closed to the position or look that you are going for. When it is baked, put a gloss finish over them and they look pretty real. The head I sent Paula doesn't have the finish on them.
Thanks
Darel

Re: The Darel/Paula Swap
Paula,
I have to say, this head you sent Darel is pretty cute too! He looks like an young elf to me, although, he doesn't have pointy ears. But, who says elves have to have pointy ears? That, or the next thing that comes to mind is a newspaper boy, dressed like in the 1920's to 30's. I think there is a lot of different things that can be done with him.
Darel, I can't wait to see what you come up with. This is really gonna be a lot of fun to see what you guys do with them.

Paula,
What dpi did you use to get the photo to be the size you posted? It is much better than what I posted.
Sorry for the quality of the photo of your head.

Re: The Darel/Paula Swap
I use 500 dpi on the larger number and keep the resize equal. About 25 KB. oops im wrong 500 hundred is way to much. Try 300. Set the pixels at 500 to the largest number.
Here ya go
