For any of you wood carving fanatics out there, I am looking for some simple (and I do mean simple) carving patterns of some Santa heads or figures. I am a beginner and am dying to try this but can't find a pattern simple enough to try. I found a few on Little Shavers and another carving site but they look way over my head. Got any ideas? Oh where can I get cheap wood. The craft stores cost way too much. Basswood is the way to go.

Paula:

You might also check out Carver's Woodshop on YouTube. She has some very simple Santas and takes you through the process step-by-step. Arleen is a good instructor and a good carver.
