These two links are by my friend Oddfae. It shows how to make a free standing, poseable armature, stronger with wooden skewers and then how to pad this armature out with strips of batting and pom poms.

Hiya Paula,

Thanks for sharing this video tutorial. Oddfae's critters are all very cute....and odd. lol She is a very talented artist.

This is the same technique that Wendy Froud uses in her video "Creating a Fairy Figure". I learned a great deal from her video that I incorporate with a lot of my artdolls.

Hugs,
Lori

Yeah, Dawn (Oddfae) is a sweetie about sharing her techniques, and she does draw on Wendy Froud. I also have her Fairy CD and her new one on making the Wizard. I am always looking for new techniques myself. It's really neat when fellow artists share what they know and I think figure sculptors are some of the most sharing lot on the internet. Huggs Paula

I had thought about ordering Wendy Froud's wizard cd. But, instead I went for broke on the other santa videos.

What do you think about the wizard video? Is it a lot like her fairy one? Or, does she teach a lot of new techniques in it that are not in the other video? Question

Would love to hear your input. Popcorn

Lori

Yes, I like it a lot.. Has more to do with character sculpts, you know those odd little creatures that she and Brian make. Gives you three ways of making three different type heads and then are attached to an armature. I liked the way she did the wizard. This was my take on it.

He is VERY handsome, Paula. I like him a lot. I have always liked the Froud style of work. Wink Maybe when I get a windfall of funds again, I'll invest in the video.

Thank you for sharing your wizard. He really is fantastic! I love the costume, his staff, and well, he is just tops. lol

Lori
