Hi,
Hobby Lobby always puts out Christmas items early but that's great for those of us who need to work months in advance. I'll hear people complain and wonder why did you come into a store which specializes in serving the crafter as well as others. Don't look if you don't want to. But I SURE WANT to. Woot I'll have to make a trip to Wichita and peek at what they have. It's certainly nice to see a few (although very few)of us here, we'll just hope more join us. How funny, you call your place the cave and I call mine the pit. LOL!

Well even though this group is still slow right now, I sure miss being here! Sad

We are still working on my mom's house. They changed the auction date to June 26. ONE DAY! I have no clue how they plan on auctioning everything in one day!! Blink

My house looks almost as cluttered as my mother's now. I keep finding little things to make santas with! I know I can't keep it all but it is so hard to choose!

Even though I'm dead tired I'm starting to get the santamaking bug again! Woot
I don't think I could ever get back into traveling and doing a ton of shows again but it will be nice to make a few santas a year just for the fun of it. Smile

I'm starting to see cross eyed so I better go. We are getting up and going to my mothers every day by 7 am which is way too early for me!!

Thanks for holding down the fort while I'm away. Very Happy

Hi Patty,
It is SO good to hear from you. Sounds like you have got your hands more than full, what a job! Is your sister still there helping? We've held three very large auctions and I'm with you, I can't see how one day will do it. But they do move along once they begin, especially if they have more than one guy who can cry the auction. All of us wish you the best and we'll talk to you when you get back.

Yeah what Jill said, I wish this was all over with so you could get back to normal. You wouldn't happen to have any clear antique looking bottles in all that stuff would you?? I don't need real big ones. I'm on a quest again. Making witchie potion bottles for my daughter in Canada. Really having fun with this. I need about 6 or 8 of them.
This won't last forever kiddo. I would imagine the worst of it is over. Miss you. Paula

Paula - About what size bottles do you need? I'll keep my eyes open. There are a few bottles in the basement, I'll check them out tomorrow.

My sister is going to be here until the end, bless her heart! I am planning on driving her back to Louisiana after the auction. Would you believe that it will be the first time I've traveled anywhere in the last 8 years! I just hope that I'm not too tired to drive after all this is over. whew

I noticed that the auction site now has the house listed. Not everything is cataloged yet and more photos are going to be posted but here is a little sample of what we are working on: http://www.auctionzip.com/cgi-bin/photopanel.cgi?listingid=641402&feed=1

It's 1 am and I'm still wound up but tired. I really need to get some sleep since we are getting up really early to work in the attic and it gets hot up there later in the day!

Jill, I too wonder how they are going to do all of this in one day! They do have two auctions going at one time though so maybe it is possible! We went to a sale last weekend that they were having. I noticed license plates from four states and about 300 people there. I did think it was a little confusing because you had to decide whether to watch the good stuff be auctioned or watch the box lots be auctioned since they were doing both at the same time.

I'll check in again as soon as I can! tease

Patty I'm looking for small apothecary type bottles with flat sides. They can be new or old doesn't matter. Anywhere from 6 to 9 inches are perfect. Boy you mom had a lot of stuff!

Patty,
Let us hear from you, or are your eyes glazed over from the auction? How did it go? Good crowd? Post when you can. Hope you get some rest.

Jill, I don't think I have any eyeballs anymore! Fear I posted the results of the June 26 auction here. I can't wait to be back for good! It's been a long hard haul. Now my house looks like my mother's! Yikes! I'm going to be sorting and cleaning until next Christmas. Yippee.

Paula, I didn't find the kind of bottles you are looking for. Most of my mom's bottles had faces on them or were in the shape of some weird animal. All the other bottles were the old wine bottles with basket weaving around them.
Glass factories were in abundance around here at one time and bottles still go pretty cheap in this area. I'll keep my eyes open in case I run into what you are looking for. Smile
