Hello everyone....my name is Regina Moore aka Regi. I have been designing dolls since I was about 10 years old. My Grandfather had me drawing my own paper dolls and designing their paper outfits. I wish it was so easy to replenish my own wardrobe now Laughing. At about age 12 my mother let me start using her sewing machine and that opened a whole new world of doll making to me. I love using all kinds of medians with my dolls and never limit myself to just one form of art. I discovered at a very young age that I had been blessed with what my Great Grandmother use to call Faery sight. I see so many wonderful things in nature and my everyday surroundings. My hubby laughs at me because I will come out of the bathroom and sit down to draw a faery face or elf face that showed itself in the marble floor. I have several series of dolls that I design....ranging from faeries, dragons, Native American, fantasy and Old Folkes. My one true love is what has pulled all of us here together. Santa Claus!!! I recently started my own business, Southern OOAKS, which I still seem to be in the starving, designing artist mode huh . I have up til now always given my dolls away but am at the point in my life that I would love to make a living at doing something that I love so dearly. I'm hoping that is beginning to happen as I have been recently accepted into the Harrison Hardware Musuem gift shop in Huntsville, AL. The gift shop promotes Alabama artist and I will be one of the first Doll artist to show there. Needless to say, I am very excited. Going in circles I am so happy to have found this wonderful group....ones I can share with, converse with and learn from. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of such a magical adventure.

Hugs, Love and Laughter,
Regi

Many welcomes to you, Regi! welcome on board So glad you found us here. I would love to see some of the dolls you create; I'm sure they are absolutely wonderful.
What a priveledge and an honor to have your work show-cased in the local museum there in Huntsville. stars I haven't quite made it that far with my dolls yet, but maybe one day. I used to show my fine art pastel paintings at the local museum in juried shows, but that was many moons ago. Since that time, I think I have dabbled in just about every medium and crafty type thing I could get my hands on.....till I landed in polymer clay head first and with feet stuck in the middle, I've been glued to the clay ever since! hehe

I think most creative ppl must have the gift of faery sight. Either you have it....or you don't. How else could you explain our imaginations being able to create such wonderful things. I think most creative individuals are some how connected more strongly to our surroundings and can see things deeper than just the face value of an object or a situation. For example, you can have a huge, smelly trash heap in the middle of the yard. We would look at it and think not only of the obvious facts like the smell, we would also see the great lump of twisted designs it makes, the multitude of textures along it's vast surface, and all the different colors of the objects that make it a completed single object. This is just a small example of what sets the non-creative ppl aside from us more higher-brained creative individuals.
As an after thought, have you ever done an ink blot test? rofl (LOL i'm just kidding! )

Again, welcome to the forums, Regi. Feel free to write me any time.
happydance

Lori

Awwwww....thank you Lori. About the Welcome and the musuem. I'm so proud and excited and scared to death...LOL!!!! You have already done something that I want to do and that is have a website. It will be nice to start selling and not be the starving artist lol! . I guess I'm just going to have to push the shy person aside and get myself out there.

A ink blot test.....well, actually I have done one before. They had the nerve to tell me I had an over active imagination....imagine that!!!!!!!!! "snicker--snicker"

lol @ inkblot test!! I would not worry too much about getting a website up and running. Sometimes, it can be a real pain in the rear and frustrating. wallbash Luckily for me, I'm able to cheat and borrow my husband's brain when I get stuck. Luckily, it's not too often or he might lock me in a closet and take my computer from me. hehe

But, on a side note, I've noticed some ppl using MySpace and Facebook for a makeshift website. I believe both are free to use. I know MySpace is. Also, another very inexpensive thing to use is www.etsy.com. It's free to use and you can open a shop, work directly through PayPal to recieve payments. Another place I'm trying to familiarize myself with is www.fuzzb.com. I haven't quite figured that one out just yet. It seems like a combination of a MySpace page and an etsy. You can open up a store there too. I would recommend starting with etsy because it seems pretty simple to use for the most part. And, all the work there evolves around crafty type of ppl. So if someone is going to etsy, they are in the market for something that is hand made or ooak. Just a thought.

Lori

Hey girl....I already use myspace and Facebook...wait wait let me rephrase...I TRY and use myspace and Facebook. I have my ooaks posted there but it is mostly family and friends that come on and look...never buy Wink I am a member of Fuzzb but haven't tried a shop there...it is a bit confuzzling to me so I put it on the back burner for now. Great ppl there though. I LOVE Etsy too and you are so right..it is a great place to shop if you are looking for hademade items. I buy my needle felting supplies from a really sweet woman on there. She has told me about having a store on there and it does sound like the way for me to start.

Thank you for all the wonderful info Lori.....I just love it here.

Welcome Regi! welcome
I'm sort of flying by right now, I've been pretty busy but I will be back here soon! I'm really enjoying reading your posts! Congrats on the museum too! Smile

I have added you to the Santamakers Guild now too. Sorry you had to wait until I returned! Blush
Don't forget to register to the Gallery too! As a guild member you can also sell your work in the Guild Shop section of the Gallery. If you register to the Gallery before I leave next week I'll try to check the Gallery so I can give you permission to post photos. I know it's a little bit of a hassle having to wait until I grant permission manually, but it helps to keep the Gallery secure by not giving everyone permission automatically. I wish there was an easier way but I'm learning this stuff as I go. I actually surprised myself when I figured out how to even make a photo gallery! Laughing

Hi Patty.... hibye

Thank you for letting me be a part of this wonderful group. You will find that I am VERY patient plus I do tend to let time slip by wtf as in thinking it's only been a few minutes and it actually has been several hours...LOL!!
So I thought you got back to me rather fast. Thank you!!!

I'm so happy that you are smart and figured out how to do the gallery...I might need to ask questions Embarassed . I'm not real up on all the computer stuff but I'm learning or ummmm at least TRYING!!! Wink

Are you so busy due to working on new sculpts? I have seen your work before and it is amazing....a very talented and gifted artist you are. *Hummmmm....I sounded like Yoda...I think I need to stop watching star wars with Chazzy...LOL!!!

Again, thank you thank you for letting me be a part of this wonderful group. I look forward to getting to know everyone.

Regi, thank you for being part of the group! I'm not so sure smart had anything to do with it. I think "dumb luck" sums it up a little better. Rolling Eyes

I wish the reason that I have been so busy was because of sculpts, no such luck! I haven't been making dolls for the last 8 years because I have been taking care of my Mother. She passed away in April & my sister has been with me since then dealing with Mom's house, auction etc.. I'm driving her back home to Louisiana next Tues. or Wed. I'll be back here full time after I get back home. Yea!!

Patty....I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how it feels and in time the hurt truly does mend.... some. I lost my dad January 2007 and then my mom passed away three weeks later...so I do understand. It's good that you have your sister there so you aren't going thru everything by yourself. Please have a safe trip to and from. My thoughts and prayers are with you sweet gal.

Hugs,
Regi

When you get back from your trip I could soooooooo use some help with the gallery thingy.... Going in circles
